Guides
Guides for deciding with the figures.
Four short guides, for the questions you ask us most often.
Each guide states the sources of its figures and when it was last updated. Tax rules change from year to year: if a point concerns your own case, check it with the notary or the accountant.
The guides

- 02 · Buyers

How much you can spend, the taxes on the purchase, the conditions for first-home relief, the tax deductions.
- 03 · Landlords and tenants
Renting a home
Contracts, the cedolare secca (flat-rate tax on rental income), the IMU (municipal property tax) in Milan, and for those looking: documents to prepare and move-in costs.
- 04 · For everyone
The documents of a home
Which ones you need to sell, buy or let, where to request them and who prepares them.
How the guides are made
How we write these guides.
We take the tax rules from public sources: the guides, information sheets and tax return instructions of the Agenzia delle Entrate (the Italian Revenue Agency), the Gazzetta Ufficiale (the official journal), the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Comune di Milano (Milan City Council).
A guide helps you find your bearings; it does not replace the advice of whoever is handling your case.
- Every figure has a source.Rates, thresholds and deadlines come from laws, council resolutions and public documents, not from hearsay.
- Every guide has a date. When a rule changes, we update the guide and its date.
- Facts, not report cards. We do not rank neighbourhoods or schools: we give you the facts so you can choose according to your priorities.
- Where a rule is uncertain, we say so.And we tell you whom to ask.
